Lucky Yuma Teens Get Help for College!
These lucky teens, or should I say their parents, will get a little help from Fort Yuma in furthering their education.
This year's scholarship committee which consisted of Karen Griffin, Kari Reily and Sue England had the awesome privilege to pour over the many scholarship applications and choose who they felt worthy of our help. This is a rewarding, but not easy, task as they all seem so deserving. Nonetheless, they did a fine job and the following students (not listed as pictured) will be receiving a check from Fort Yuma: Mario Guerrero (San Luis)-$2,000, Taylor McDonald (San Pasqual)-$2,000, Chelsea Nielsen (Cibola)-$2,000, Mariela Robledo ($2,000)-Kofa, Angela Acosta ($2,000)-Yuma, KC Hoffman's daughter, Rachel Palumbo ($500), Timothy Tiutan-Kofa ($700 music scholarship donated two years ago by Wendy McKane), and another $400 to a Yuma High Interact student (will provide name later). So pat yourselves on the back Fort Yumans for raising almost $12,000 in scholarship money to give away!
