July Message from President Keith

Hi Everyone,

First I want to thank you for the opportunity to be President of this great club again. I have always said that the last time (2004-2005) was one of the best years of my life. I can't imagine this year being any different.

 
I realize how hard it is to fit Rotary fund raisers and projects into your already busy schedule so we have put together a calendar with just about anything you can imagine that is related to this club and the full plate of events for the upcoming year. It is my goal to give everyone in this club a job this year. With our Back to school, our Dateland School project and our Old is Gold Projects you will find something that you can participate in to help out the less fortunate in our community. This is what Rotary is all about. I wish for everyone that you find what PDG Val Scanlin called your Rotary WOW moment this year. You have become a member of this club but until you experience that WOW moment you really have not become a Rotarian yet.

Our youth programs like the two Interact clubs, our Scholarship Committee and RYLA are ways you can stay in touch with our kids if that is where you want to help out.

We will have our usual fundraisers this year. The Golf A Thon, and the Mardi Gras are our big ones. The budget for this year is very aggressive and our fundraisers are extremely important to our success. I hope all of you will support these through sponsorships or going out and getting sponsors and participants for these events. We will need everyone's help to reach our goals so we can finance our projects. One of the best ways you can help out is to take advantage of our Membership Package Deals. If you can support the sponsor package you will have participated in everything our club does through the year. And the bonus is that you will save some money by doing so. The only things that this does not include is the card game, guests you invite to the club and additional contributions you may want to make to the Rotary Foundation.

You will be able to get in touch with me any time you like if you have new ideas or concerns. You will be invited to every board meeting we have so you can be a part of our club business. And you will also be given a copy of the Treasurer's report every Club Assembly so you know right where we are. I guess in a nut shell, you will be given every opportunity to be as big a part of the club as you want to be. I am looking forward to this next year and rolling up our sleeves and getting dirty right next to the rest of you.
