Back to School Shop a Success!
Fort Yumans got a chance to go shopping again this year.
That’s “back to school” shopping for 25 lucky kids. Every year Fort Yuma Rotary sponsors 25-30 children with $100 each to help them with their school clothing needs. This year, each child received a $140 gift card to shop with and a personal Rotarian/Interactor shopper to help them get the most bang for their buck. Big, big thank you to JC Penneys for their sales for this event. Also thank you to Attorney Candy Camerena for donating $1,000 extra to go towards shoes for these children. Yuma Community Food Bank donated 25 drawstring bags and Marlene Aiello donated an extra $300 to purchase school supplies to fill these bags. Thank you! We will officially thank everybody at the Club Assembly in September. The children were chosen from the Salvation Army, The Boys and Girls Club, Arizona’s Children Association, Child and Family Services and Amberly’s Place. Thank you Renee Dinwiddie and your committee for making this event run so smoothly! Also, thank you to all who got up early on your Saturday morning and especially to the many brand new Rotarians that have jumped in with both feet on our first event of the year!
