The Rotary Club of Fort Yuma always leaves its mark.

While we are known for being the FUN club, we are also known for being one of the hardest working clubs in Southern Arizona.  We started off the year great with a stellar back-to-school shopping event that helped provide clothes, shoes and school supplies for 32 local school age children.  Several of our committees are hard at work preparing for even more upcoming events.  Our annual Pars Under the Stars golf tournament is October 25.  A fantastic event to help raise money for all the projects we have planned for this year.  The golf ball drop is going to be bigger than ever with a cash prize of $2,000.  Ask a Fort Yuma Rotarian how you can get your name on a ball this year.

The money we raise each year with our great events goes back into the community with several projects, including the dictionary project, our USA maps project, Christmas shopping spree, and our big service project at Carver Elementary School.  With BCBS of Arizona and The Rotary Foundation we will invest almost $28,000 into the school for improvements to the playground and other facilities for the special needs children of our community.  The main portion of the Carver project will take place December 12-14, 2014.  We have a lot to accomplish in a short period and will need lots of help from volunteers.  Be sure to ask Dan Tortolano how you can help.

Fort Yuma is like family.  We meet each week on Thursdays at noon at the Yuma Elks Lodge #476 at 1917 W. 32nd Street.  Fort Yuma Rotary strives to live up to the Rotary motto of “Service Above Self” each day for our community.  We do that by working hard and having fun.  Come join us for lunch to learn more about what is going on in our community and what you can do to help.

Thanks,
David
