ImageThe 26th Yuma County Teacher of the Year awards banquet, sponsored by the Education Foundation of Yuma County and the Rotary Clubs of Yuma, was held on Tuesday, April 23rd. Fort Yuma Rotary Club was presented with the Educational Hall of Fame award for our help in making significant improvements to the Dateland and Mohawk Valley Schools over the past two years, which totaled over $100,000 in time and materials.  Our contribution resulted in the development of safe, fun-filled playgrounds, and through our backpack program, we continue to provide Dateland School children with weekend backpacks filled with healthy foods.  The Yuma County Teacher of the Year for 2013 is Jarrod Norris, a special education extensive support self-contained teacher at G.W. Carver Elementary.  Fort Yuma looks forward to continuing with our work to support the needs of children in our community.
